Most of us are trying to live more intentionally. But sticking with those intentions is challenging. Even if you try to keep up with your intentions, they often slip away or are forgotten. A powerful remedy can be a visual sign to remind you of your daily mantras.

Daily mantras can help you stay on track. They work as your “RESET” button. Use mantras to keep at bay unproductive thoughts that ruin your good intentions.

Make a list of your own mantras. You can keep it on your wall, phone’s wallpaper, desk, nightstand, or wherever works for you. The sign needs to be a pleasing visual that catches your attention.

Here are 5 useful mantras:

🎯 1. Focus on Things You Can Control

There are so many things in this world that you can’t control. Focusing on things beyond your control is a waste of your energy and time. Whether other people like you or acknowledge your work is beyond your control. Focusing on what other people think about you can be agonizing. Instead, focus on what you can do by living intentionally and thoughtfully day after day.

🌱 2. Focus on Here and Now

If you worry about tomorrow and are fixated on yesterday, you lose today. Then you’ll never live.

“Life is a series of moments.” “It is a series of moments called ‘now.’ We can live only in the here and now. Our lives exist only in moments.”

– Kishimi, Ichiro; Koga, Fumitake from “The Courage to Be Disliked

Don’t miss out on your whole life by never being present in this moment.

🔄 3. Focus on Process, Not Product

Set up and follow good processes. Don’t be attached to the final result. If you focus on the process, you’ll inevitably increase the chance of achieving the final product you want.

Don’t live to achieve something in life. Instead, live like you dance. Alan Watts says, “The meaning and purpose of dancing is the dance.” You just dance; you don’t dash to the finish line.

💡 4. Remember Thoughts Create Emotions

Only your thoughts and beliefs have the power to control your feelings and emotions. You look at the world only through your own lens. If you change your lens, you can change your world.

“It’s not what happens to you, but how you react that matters.” – Epictetus

🌻 5. Embrace Discomfort

Get comfortable being uncomfortable. Know that you can learn only from mistakes. Don’t be a perfectionist and limit your potential. Have a growth mindset. Life will be boring if you don’t try new things.

“The only man who never makes a mistake is the man who never does anything.”

– Theodore Roosevelt
